Following the release of their next generation RF matrix platform, Dow Key Microwave Corporation is excited for the release of their brand new supplemental brochure to educate users.
The brochure, which is available to download now through the Dow Key Microwave website, will cover next generation RF Matrix software features including additional SCPI commands (fully backward compatible to previous models), Ethernet, USB and HTTP control interfaces. The RF matrix platform itself is discussed in the brochure as well, adding that it is more modular, more compact, field upgradeable, easier to repair, cost effective and offers a faster switching speed altogether. Dow Key is also planning to make their GPIB control interface available to users later this year.
Dow Key Microwave’s MS – Series, or Multiple Switch Series, is just one series included in the brochure that Dow Key is presenting. The MS-Series is populated with individual switches and is aimed at making the control of multiple coaxial switches through software simple for users. The MS-Series has a number of other features that Dow Key wishes to highlight, including the local and remote control options, more switch options (terminated, non-terminated, 18GHz, 26 GHz and 40GHz, normally open and latching switches), functionality with ATE applications and less complex signal routing applications, and more. The MS-Series also allows users to select same or different types of RF switches to put either on the rear panel or inside a box.
With this information and more included in the brand new brochure, Dow Key Microwave explains to users the full capability of their next generation RF matrix platform.
Dow Key Microwave encourages users to visit them at the upcoming NAB Show, held at Las Vegas Convention Center, between April 16th and April 19th as they showcase their new next generation RF matrix platform and their coaxial switches. They will be located in booth SU9607.

The “Switch Solutions for Systems with Low PIM Requirements” addition to the white paper page explains that the effect of nonlinearities is becoming more prominent in signals with higher amplitude, which causes intermodulation signals to interfere with the desired system behavior and introduces unwanted results. In order to avoid this and reduce intermodulation in passive devices, low PIM designs are necessary.
Dow-Key Microwave Corporation has invested in R&D for new RF switch products and was excited to introduce to the market a family of special RF switches which meet the very stringent and low intermodulation requirements imposed by today’s test and communication industries. The launch of the “Low PIM family” has provided capability for a much improved PIM performance (below-160 dBc) and is available as an option to users with low PIM needs.
The new white paper focuses on defining Passive Intermodulation, and the concerns around PIM. It also discussed the cause of PIM in both general terms and in switches while also providing a solution for systems with low PIM requirements.
